It’s taken almost four years for a Crofton family to receive justice in the killing of their 14 year old son.

Christopher Jones died after he was beaten by gang members in May 2009. Jones was riding his bike at the time. Two people served time for their role in the killing. Javel George was one of those defendants. He served less than two years in jail as did a juvenile who was also involved.

Wrongful death lawsuits were then filed and confidential settlements were reached in all but the case against George. Today, George’s trial was held in Anne Arundel County despite the fact that he was a no show.

Following the judge’s verdict, the parents of Jones were awarded $1.8 million. In all but the case against George, a confidential settlement had been reached.

Family members tell Fox 45, “we finally have closure after almost four years”.
